Laurie Olive-Solano is currently a district ELAR Instructional Specialist for Northeast Independent School District. Prior, she served as a former Literacy Leader and a certified Reading Specialist (K-12) for Northside Independent School District at the elementary school level.
Laurie’s educational background includes a Masters of Education in Curriculum Instruction & Reading from Grand Canyon University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Reading from New Mexico State University. She continues to learn, research, and apply relevant literacy practices to her work as a literacy advocate.
In the 2018-2019 school year, she was awarded the honor of Educator of the Year with Northside ISD. She has fourteen years of experience as an educator and passionate literacy advocate.
Her professional interests include curriculum and instruction, the read-aloud experience, the celebration of diverse and multicultural children’s literature, and writing development in early childhood.
